October virtual gallery bonnie whitmore

Hey Friends!

In light of this new unknown living, we are all in now, and in an effort to try and keep some consistency in my life, I’m taking my weekly residency into the Virtual Gallery! Every week I will have a new virtual friend join me and Stephanie via the interwebs, and this time at a more reasonable time frame of 8:30pm to 10pm. For those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie Marlar, you have no idea how lucky you are about to become!! She’s the ringleader, the hero, the rebel, and the sass to every gallery show I do and she’s also a helluva bartender. She’ll be my copilot on these shows as long as her country ass internet works!

So here's how it's gonna work: Contributions = a number that reflects the combined amount of what you would pay at the door + Stephanie’s Tip Jars. Right now, we’re using RSVPify to sell General Admission tickets for the low, low price of $7. You’ll notice at check-out that there is an option to add a donation to your GA ticket. Each week, the contributions will be shared between my guest, our virtual bartender Stephanie, and me. After your ticket is purchased, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the Virtual Gallery via ZOOM. Here you will get to see, chat, and listen to all your favorite songs by me and my friends! We are asking for you not share the access link with others. This is one of the many ways we are trying to avoid losing our homes over the next few months and to be able to keep you entertained during these uncertain times!

I’ll also share the info and etiquette tips of these new spaces. Much like the Continental Gallery, this is still a live room in which we all share it together. So for example, if you un-mute yourself and speak, you will be interrupting the show for every single person watching! We’ll also include tips on how to optimize your viewing experience, and any other details you'll need in order to log-in and enjoy the show. This platform we’re using is free to sign up for, AND there is also an option to watch within your browser in case you can’t download the app. We will also welcome your feedback and know we will be working out the kinks as best as possible. We want to make this the best experience we can.

Purchase a Virtual Gallery Pass to access all five weeks for just $25.

johnny goudie bonnie whitmore

October 8th - Johnny Goudie

Johnny Goudie is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumental musician, record producer and podcaster based in Austin, Texas. Through his four-decade career, Johnny's musical experiences span the artistic gauntlet and include being the frontman of many bands including Goudie (Elektra Records), the guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist for renowned touring acts like Ian Moore & Bodeans, a songwriter working with the likes of Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey and Kathy Valentine (Go-Go's), a solo artist capable of revealing a previously unseen intimacy, and of course, keyboardist/vocalist for SKYROCKET! In January of 2018, Johnny enlisted the help of his old friend, producer/guitarist, "Scrappy" Jud Newcomb (Slaid Cleaves, Ian McLagan) and recorded four songs for an upcoming e.p. to be released September 13, 2018.
In 2011 Johnny took his talents to the world of podcasting and launched “How Did I Get Here?”, an audio segment that takes the form of a casual living room conversation while simultaneously packing the punch of a formal interview. With thousands of subscribers, the show has garnered a worldwide fanbase through Johnny's curiosity and disarming sense of humor. He’s hosted renowned guests like Ian McLagan (The Faces, The Rolling Stones), Dwight Twilley, The Bodeans, as well as up and comers like White Denim and Wild Child. What was first an archive of Austin music history is quickly becoming a chronicle of music beyond city limits.

brennen leigh bonnie whitmore

Thursday, October 15th - Brennen Leigh

"Leigh's 'You've Never Been to North Dakota' soothes like Cole Porter, timelessly lyrical both literally and vocally." --Raoul Hernandez, Austin Chronicle

"Brennen Leigh plays guitar like a motherfucker." --Guy Clark

Brennen Leigh is an American songwriter, guitar player, mandolin player and singer whose to-the-point storytelling style has elevated her to cult icon status in Europe, Scandinavia, across the United States, South America and the United Kingdom. Her songs have been recorded by Lee Ann Womack, Rodney Crowell, Sunny Sweeney, Charley Crockett, and many others. As renowned for her musicianship as for her writing, it’s easy to see how Leigh caught the ear of greats like Guy Clark, who colorfully endorsed her flatpicking: “Brennen Leigh plays guitar like a motherfucker,” and David Olney, who described her writing as “tender, violent, sentimental, foolish and wise, she is always Brennen. Confident and at ease with herself, without being a jerk about it.”

Thursday, October 22nd - AJ Haynes

One listen to Power, Seratones’ spectacular sophomore album, and it’s clear just how much of an evolution has taken place. Produced by Cage The Elephant guitarist Brad Shultz, the record finds the Shreveport five-piece trading in the brash proto-punk of their critically acclaimed debut for a timeless brand of gritty soul, one that takes its cues from vintage Motown and Stax even as it flirts with modern synthesizers and experimental arrangements. Haynes’ captivating voice remains front and center here, but her delivery this time around is more measured and self-assured than ever before, a beacon of confidence and clarity amidst a sea of social and political turmoil. Perhaps even more marked than the any sonic development on the record, though, is Haynes’ lyrical turn, which points her gaze inwards for the first time as she grapples with race, gender, and justice, writing with an unfiltered honesty that at once exudes strength and vulnerability, hope and despair, beauty and pain.

Thursday, October 29th - Jon Latham

“What the hell Who is this guy??!! I find myself saying that a lot these days, but Jon Latham is! on the top of my list. Truth, beauty, time, love. The real deal. Close your eyes, open your heart,! feel the southern breezes.”!
- Kevn Kinney! Drivin n Cryin!

From the earliest of ages , Jon Latham has been obsessed with music. While living in the small! town of Greenwood, South Carolina, his first stage was the fireplace hearth at his grandma's! house. Introduced from the kitchen, he'd take the "stage", singing along to his favorite records! while strumming along on his toy guitar. The years have passed, the child has grown, but the! drive and love of performing is still rooted in the same innocence.
